Kadary BETTER be ready, lol. Not that it matters since he’ll get like 3 mpg. Braswell I bet will leave too. If we can’t land some impact transfers then we will legit need to play some walkons at some positions other than C. This is crazy. Can’t imagine the AD is happy about this mass exodus. The optics are bad, easy to shit on JB and is 7 man rotation but it is not like this is a new concept. You get your chance (by working hard in practice with JB) and you take it, you do not and that is on you. Most times you wait your turn, like Sutherland did, like Sims did, ect. but kids today do not want to do this. The transfer portal and its "special circumstances" have become NCAA free agency. They think they are the bomb because they were a star in high school. They show up on campus and think it can translate to this level, it rarely does. For every Zion that shows up there 100 top guys who shit the bed. We get all worked up seeing amazing highlights against inferior talent. Last year a Canadian kid Simi Shittu was the number 7 recruit (we were in the mix), though he was the real deal but he went to Vandy. Got hurt half way through the season but still only averaged about the same as what Q did while starting and not fouling out all the time. Declared for the draft and no one touched him. Sitting in the G right now. So if everyone actually leaves is this what we got (barring the transfer game)? Guard Buddy, Joe, and Kadry Forward Skinny Fuck, Q, Woody, Jon Bol Center BS, and the Dutch Oven

Just can’t be having this. No more sanctions and all that crap. There is a strong chance neither Towns and Tape come, IMO. We are looking at a bad roster the way you broke it down and basically no depth to boot except at the 5.

doesnt seem promising on Tape or Towns. But I imagine we will land someone on the grad transfer market whether it be Aiken or someone else.
The optics are bad without a doubt. But again I think it lends to recruiting. (Ultimately JB's fault).
Howard, Brycen, and Carey are not transferring because JB has a tight rotation. They are transferring because they are not good enough to crack that tight rotation.
I look at Jalen a lot like MCW. Minimal minutes there for their freshman years, but expected for that sophomore year blow up. MCW had the game, Jalen did not. These guys are transferring because they are simply not good enough. Recruiting has to pick up. If you have better players, you can have a deeper bench.

I think Goodine could’ve contributed down the road as he was getting more comfortable but he wants more time and probably wouldn’t get it. Jalen was a disaster on the court. He could’ve been playing post-injury too in theory, lol. That thumb issue should’ve been fine by Feb. I mentioned this before but nobody seemed to want to play. Why is our staff of former guards having so much trouble finding guards who can play here? The system? They come here and fall apart mostly as of late. Something is amiss and it is alarming. It’s seems to be the ones they identify early, come to camp, etc. What the hell are we doing with these guys in practice. Man, if Kadary comes in and flops too I’m going to have a breakdown.

The loss Hop and the cut in scholarships from the NCAA has really hurt. I did not think at the time the loss of scholarships would matter but it did. Hop has not shown me he can coach, if JB had that kind of talent they would have been a top 10 team. What Hop can do is recruit and just like Sobecuse and cusefan2016 have stated, that is killing us. With no NCAA tourney or hockey on (and all arena's closed to play) I have been watching old games from the 2012-14 season. Just seeing all the major recruits we had is crazy. MCW did not even see the floor as a freshman but did not leave, he knew his time was next. Shit even Dion did not leave after his freshman year and that guy was a headcase. These kids leaving have realized they are not ACC level players (or power 5 conference). And there is nothing wrong with that at all, they will find a place to play. I wish we did not waste are own and their time with these experiments.

To echo that, I am watching our semi final loss to UCONN right now. Dion's freshman year, and he was the third guard behind Triche and Scoop. But he get fair time, and came back the following year to do the exact same thing because the talent was there. Again BG seems like a kid who could evolve into a nice player. But we went from our 3rd guard being at worst a top 40-50 kid with NBA game (obvi dion was better just talking worse case) to BG?

Don't care about Wasington or Carey leaving.
Carey was flat out terrible and had ample opportunity.
Washington is a great teammate but just not much talent. Can't shoot or get in the paint.
Goodine hurts. He has talent. Was slow to come around but he was starting to show signs. Really wish he would have stuck around. Worried Kadary won't be ready as most freshman outside of the truly elite struggle. Was hoping for 15 minutes of subbing for Buddy/Joe in normal games and another 5-7 minutes when Marek or Q get in foul trouble which will happen often.

I think it was encouraging to note that both JoeG and Buddy got yanked—near the end of the season—for decent stretches when they weren't performing well. I don't know the inside of JB's head, though: was that because JB got so frustrated with their ineffectiveness(es), or that Brycen and HowWa had progressed enough to represent less of a letdown from the starters by the end of the year? Either way, if Kadary is as good as we hope/think he is, maybe that means he's got a chance for meaningful minutes. Earlier in the season.

Yeah, like you say, hard to tell if JB was fed up with the guards and had no choice but to pull them for a little bit OR those two progressed enough to gain trust. Either way, if Kadary doesn’t give us SOME positive minutes then we are F’d. Too many minutes logged AGAIN and those guys will wear down. Same vicious cycle since Ennis/Cooney. JG/BB are just being asked to do too much and are overused due to either the staff’s incompetence and/or JB’s nepotism.

Alabama would be a good fit with Oats. Could see GTown but would he go to a rival? Iona with Don Pitino would be a good fit too but they aren’t on his list. Regardless, if he doesn’t clean up that handle big time and learn how to shoot/finish then he won’t play much anywhere. He needs a LOT of work on his game to be able to contribute somewhere, IMO. Just a major bummer and bust this didn’t work out. He was handpicked early on to be the PG of the future at SU. Fail.
