Goodine was much better at Providence either. Goodine transferring into a school with better guards than the one he left was a STRANGE decision if he wanted PT, we'll see how it shakes out for him. I wasn't expecting much this year from him regardless. I didn't see him play though, so not sure how his game looked.

Their fans are done with Carey lol. It’s the turnovers still with him. His assist to turnover ratio is still awful. It's odd - his straight line is fine, but if he has to maneuver he loses the ball so easily. Not sure if that improved, but it was sort of shocking to see him struggle that much every time he tried to make any move with the ball inside the three point line.

That's cause he's a 2G and not a PG, plus think he's kind of small for a 2 at certain levels in conferences. Who knows maybe he'll have to transfer to another lower D1 school. Another kid like Kaleb Joseph who was/is a bust at this point.

He certainly cant be a 1 but he also does not have the shot or as you mentioned size to be a 2. Frankly I think his best chance at success would be to go all in on being a PG and refine his handle. He is quick and should be able to get up and down the floor to find people.
Just a tweener in every sense and not like he can physically get away with it.

Yeah he was quick compared to the Buddys and Frank Howards but he isn’t a Colin Sexton, Coby White, etc. Those guys were real blazers in the open court. Just a real bad evaluation on him by SU. The idiots on syrfan.com also overrated his speed. I think the staff overhyped him too and that perhaps got in his head. There was an article either Mike or Donna did on him right before he arrived to SU with stuff saying that the staff views him as a one and done type player. Also, GMac on camera during practices in Oct said that he’s as fast as anybody in the country up and down the court. Now that was malarkey. You have the Coby Whites, a couple of UConn guards, Matt Coleman, Arizona St guards, Ja Morant, etc., all quicker than Carey lol. But, yeah, to do anything with basketball professionally Carey needs to develop being a serviceable PG.

Yeah, we focus on tweeners, but going in that direction with PGs was always a bit too dicey in my opinion. It has worked, but not having a suitable substitute for when it doesn't has really hurt us at times. I also think we've probably derailed a couple players by trying to jam that into the position and then watching them crumble from the pressure. Which isn't a compliment to them, but they may have been better served learning at this level being off the ball more. I think if I was Carey I would just focus on the 2G.

I'd have to see him play to gauge how much of a mess he is, but he seemed to have more potential than someone like Joseph did (for me at least). I could see him being a great sixth man at a lower level school, comes off the bench, fairly explosive if you're looking to run/press. He really needs to learn how to shield the ball though, and to slow down in traffic because the turnovers make him almost unplayable if he doesn't.
