Buddy needs to start hitting some of these uncontested "big" shots..... I‘m so ready for this starting backcourt to be gone. This team is playing with no margin for error and Joe lets himself get benched against a bad ND defensive team lol. That’s our starting PG. Buddy literally watches every 3 launched from his area too.

Joe was awful tonight. Why JB didn't go with Sy for considerably more minutes is beyond me. He could eat some minutes at the two, but that puts Buddy down low. I don't know. This team was so poorly constructed. He seems to have games where he is totally checked out. Buddy and Jimmy are good enough as scorers, but they also rarely recognize a bad shot. They make their minds up and that's it. Jimmy had a late one where you knew as soon as he started driving from three he was going to toss some nonsense at the hoop - and he did. And he missed. I will say he makes a lot of them though. Kid is interesting to watch play.

Kid is interesting to watch play. Yup. They also have their heads down when doing their ISO routines. Never looking to pass unless ultimately forced. Everybody else watches. Other programs like Villanova even dare I say Kentucky (oh but Cal can’t coach) give up shots for better shots. This all gets magnified late in the games especially when trailing. Awful basketball.

Buddy points versus the number of shots Buddy takes is rarely impressive.

These two fellows give Buddy Buckets a B+ on the season - the chatter is pretty spot-on IMO. I do think a lot of people went insane after the NCAAT and thought Buddy was suddenly going to be able to play well against athletes, or hit shots consistently, and that didn't really materialize.
They end up giving him a B+, what do you got so far:

He’s used incorrectly and, despite how horrendous his defense is, sometimes he’s the only one who can score. He’s become a good college player who produces points due to volume and insane usage.

I know, sometimes it's hard not to critique these guys hard for how bad their defense is.
If Buddy has Kadary, Bras, Q, Edwards, etc...surrounding him - he's still awful, but his offense/shooting is good enough to offset the defensive inadequacies. However, on a team with himself, Joe and Jimmy - all of whom are insanely poor on defense, it's hard not to wonder how many points exactly they need to score to offset how bad they are.
That's on JB though......so perhaps not fair to go hard on Buddy for that one.

By no means do I think he’s an NBA player and there are 15-2.0 SGs in the country I would take over him, but, for this team he does yeoman’s work but to the point of being grossly exposed. Not his fault though as you said.

Like just about everyone who gets or got significant minutes, it is tough to give a fair grade when he is being asked to do so much more than he is really capable on a good team. B/B+ sounds fair. He has not had enough lights out moments to carry us to wins in games we lost to get us into the bubble convo, but again the roster was constructed for him to be Kobe. Not a very high end SG with deficiencies who is the 3rd option on a top 20 team.

i agree with 2016. maybe a b overall.
he's been good but asked to do too much. he also has not done enough when big game situations arise to give much more than that.

I would give him an F-. The day he stepped foot on campus I predicted the fall of the program! The worst thing that happened was that Buddy turned out to be good enough to play a little. Even though he started playing a little WAY before he was good enough to even play a little. I give him an F- for just showing up. I'm joking - it's JB's fault, I agree with that, but I kinda blame Buddy too. You know your dad is crazy for white kids, you saw what he did with Cooney, you can't come to Syracuse! You had to have known this is what was going to happen, because even I did!!!!

One thing that will forever make me laugh is that Buddy shot worse for his career than Scoop Jardine from three.

Another thing that makes me laugh….Boeheim has created a real masterpiece here. Spun this debacle of a season into a true celebration as if this team has just come off a Final 4 run. Buddy in tears at a presser, how they were in every game, “the best year I’ve ever had coaching,” etc. I’m sure they will all be featured on various TV and radio shows soon as well. A real masterpiece. Unreal.
