What’s the best course of action to round out the rest of the roster?
Can we replace Bell with a guy who can play defense and shoot as well? I think we can.
Can we get a better defensive minded PG?
Let’s leave the Maliq vs Lampkin debate in the other thread, and focus on any way to right this ship?

The real question is will calling him fat get you banned from the fan even before he commits?

Bell ain’t going anywhere. Starling isn’t either. Yup, lock in Starling/2, Bell/3, Freeman/4, Lampkin/5 if he commits. Need a starting 1 and a bench forward, at least. Hope some combo of Westry contributes/Cuffe improves/Patterson or McCleod is a viable back up 5 happens so we've got depth.

PG and C are the most important positions. Bell and Starling can’t play D. We won’t win anything if we can’t defend just a little. I know you aren’t defending it but if the plan is St. Joe’s kid at PG and Lumpkin with Starling/Bell/Freeman that is double digit losses in the regular season for sure.

Looks like the plan will be to outscore everyone. Won’t win any titles that way. Could certainly get into the tournament, though.
Perhaps Red thinks he can teach these guys how to defend.

You need a guy that can play defense at the 5 even if he's coming off the bench. And I mean positional defense, can call out switches, can rotate, etc. He may not be a world beater, but you need someone that, when Lampkin is getting run through because he isn't a great defender and our guards and wings are still swiss cheese, can be relied upon to be a steady defender in chaos.
We need so much help: Front line lead guard, potentially another backup lead guard but assume this may be Westry, backup center that we can depend on (if that's mccleod, yikes), at least another wing that can play the 3/4 off the bench and maybe a second 3/4.

If I liked Lacrosse or soccer, the men’s hoops program would be 5th on the totem poll at this point, because the women’s hoops and football programs are doing it right.

Totally hear ya… who do you get to come from the portal to play forward unless it’s a beefy 3/4 that we can give 25 mpg at best split between two positions? Most want to start?

If you have Lampkin, McCleod and Patterson, at least one of the McCleod or Patterson should be able to be the backup five. If not, that's a massive fail. With that said, I think at this point, center is a massive fail.
Re the 3/4 position off the bench... I'm not sure. I'd like to see maybe going with one offensive-minded portal guy and one defensive-minded portal guy to use on a case by case basis because I don't think we're getting anyone that can do it all at the P6 level in the portal.
Lead guard... that has to be someone good. Especially if Red wants to run more.
I'm more hopeful that Bell can be better, but I'm real worried about JJ. His shot still looks funky and he isn't a lead guard. I'm hopefully for Westry, but he's been injured for two years.
Without Maliq and all those TBDs, I'm not sure how we are much better outside of chemistry improving or Red hitting a homerun in the portal that I don't see.
